This year Thanksgiving celebrations are sure to be different. With everything happening in the world, in-person gatherings may not be as feasible. So whether your plans are to connect with your buddies or spend some quality time with family, we’ll be finding alternative ways to celebrate the holiday. But just because Thanksgiving will be a unique experience this year, it doesn’t mean we can’t live to the ideals of the holiday.

As has been the case with some workplaces and schools, remote gatherings using Zoom or Skype will likely be a key option for many. And a Thanksgiving gift crate from BroCrates is a wonderful way to celebrate Thanksgiving from a distance. We’ve got a few tips for making the most of Thanksgiving this year.

Preparation Is Key

In these challenging times, having a distanced Thanksgiving will require a little bit of planning. Regardless if you’re organizing a Zoom gathering or sending a gourmet gift crate to family or friends, you’ll have to get things sorted well ahead of time, so don’t leave things to the last minute. Order your gift basket or crate with time to spare to ensure it arrives on time, and make sure that everyone’s schedules align appropriately so that everyone can enjoy each other’s (virtual) company.

Sharing Food (Remotely)

With a Thanksgiving gift crate from BroCrates, you can make sure that everyone can enjoy delicious gourmet food together. Whether it’s tasty and fun snacks like our Popcorn & Coke Gift BroCrate, sweets like the Thanksgiving Treats BroCrate, or a more refined set for after-dinner drinks like The Gentlemans’s BroCrate, there’s plenty of ways to augment a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with some extra flavor. No matter if it’s baked goods or quality liquor, sharing with family and friends will make the occasion extra special.

Virtual Visits

Of course, as mentioned, this will take some planning and foresight. While apps like Skype and Zoom are great for connecting people, it’s best to confirm in advance that everyone participating knows how to use them. To get the most out of the occasion – and to hopefully minimize any technical difficulties – make sure ahead of time that everyone knows how to log in and use the program/software properly. (Thankfully most popular apps like Zoom and Skype are quite easy to use, even for those of us who aren’t very tech-savvy).

Once everyone’s connected, proceed with dinner. It’s obviously not the same as sitting around the table with everyone in person, but you can sync up your meal and enjoy conversations and share stories with siblings, parents, relatives, and friends while digging in together. After dinner, sync up a football game and enjoy it together with a drink or two.

Thanksgiving this year is bound to be different than in years past, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be enjoyable. We can all do our part to enjoy a safe and healthy Thanksgiving.
